Vandalism

Sadly the Mobile Allotments have been badly vandalised and we have had to move them to a new site at the Alexander McLeod School in Abbey Wood. Whilst sad that they can't be on public display for a while we are happy that after some repairs and TLC we will be able to use them for workshops in the school

The students have now planted the mobile allotments as well as

can visit the mobile sensory garden and say hello to the garden
gnomes at the City of London Festival 21 - 28 June when it will be

Oaklands Mobile Sensory Herb Garden

The Mobile Allotment is now based at Oaklands School in Bethnal Green where it is being stripped down and renovated by Lisa. Pupils at the school have been involved in customising the Mobile Allotment and have started planting seeds in readiness for transplanting them to the allotment when its renovation is complete.

The young people will be creating a magical mobile garden that will appeal to all the senses; heady scents, vibrant colours and delicious tastes will be the order of the day. And, of course, this will all have other benefits too. As well as giving the participants new skills in gardening and a better understanding of the links between the garden they have created and the food they eat it will also attract butterflies and bees - thus supporting urban bio-diversity in the city.

Mobile Allotment Moves On

The Mobile Allotment has now moved to its next temporary home, Oaklands School in Bethnal Green.  The allotment will soon be getting a makeover and lick of paint in preparation for the project - to work with the school pupils to design and plant an edible/sensory mobile garden. The pupils will also be designing their own mini-guide to urban gardening documenting and sharing their new skills.

New Mobile Allotment Unit

Avant-Gardening has a new member of the Mobile Allotment family. Artist, Lisa Cheung, has designed and built a new unit to join the existing two pieces. The new unit is a mobile, multi-functional planting unit that can easily be used by a single person and has been built for maximum flexibility. The brief for the unit was to make a piece that was fun, easy to move and had both storage and workspaces.

The new addition to the Mobile Allotment has been funded by London Borough of Greenwich and will soon be seen on the streets of the borough dispensing green wisdom and gardening tips
